19 weeks

CWH is 19 weeks old today! He's wearing the onesie that Aunt Lindsay and Scotty bought at the zoo. I have been behind, as I had surgery last Thursday (May 22). Everything seems to be going well, and I have a checkup in the morning. The worst part is that I am limited on how much I can take care of Carter. Someone can put him in my lap, and I can feed him, but someone else has to burp him, change him, rock him, bathe him. Pretty much anything else! I miss playing with him, but he's had fun playing with his aunt and grandparents. Hopefully, I can do a little more, soon. In the meantime, we have been very blessed by our friends and family by the help, encouragement, and meals!
These days, Carter's taking more control of his binky and his bottle, and he does this talk/laugh thing by inhaling in. It's quite comical. He is getting the hang of the jumperoo, and enjoys messing with the crinkly ears of his blue bunny toy. The bunny went missing for a good 24 hours, and it was quite the crisis. He loves for you to help him stand.

What a day...Carter is a cutie-pie, and I love every second with him, but he is EXHAUSTING!! Carter had his 4 month pics today, and we left a path of destruction trying to get out of the house...it's always so much more peaceful when we are out and about. The stroller and new sights keeps him calm. Third night of rice cereal tonight. Carter isn't a huge fan. I tasted it myself, and I can see why. I'd be happy to share with you in person what it tastes like!

While I was getting ready this morning, I had Carter on his activity mat as usual. Then I heard crying, which usually means that he is on his tummy and can't flip over. I came to check things out, and the little guy was on his tummy, but was about a foot away from his mat. Guess the dude is mobile! Sooo...Steve went and got the exersaucer out of storage (donated to us by our cousins!). Carter was mesmerized by his new toy, and I am glad for a new place to put him down, as I am starting to get low back pain from holding him!

17 weeks/ 4 months

Today was CWH's four month birthday. He's getting big! Everyone says they grow up too fast, but for me it's just right. It's exciting to see what he'll do next. He's thing right now is that he likes to "stand" up. I hold him under his arms and let him "stand" on my lap. He wiggles around to try to keep his balance. I call it "mommy surfing" because surfing is exactly what it looks like. He enjoyed watching the kid in the mirror surf, too!

Today we went to a graduation party at a park while Steve was at work. CWH was in a good mood, but let me know when he was ready to go. The big step this evening was trying rice cereal. He was crying, and would stop crying after each spoonful, so it was hard to see if he knows how to use his tongue properly. He did take all of it, and his bottle afterwards. Everyone's been warning us not to expect much change in sleep pattern. We can only hope! It was messy, but mainly because it was runny, not because of CWH.

He's sleeping soundly. I wanted to get a cute pic for 4 months old as he looked so cute in his khaki overalls, but the timing didn't work out. I have to settle for him sleeping in his crib. (with no socks...Steve obviously gave him the bath tonight! )

Baby Dedication Photos

16 weeks 5 days

Yesterday was my first Mother's Day! Carter got me a garnet necklace (his birthstone!) and a sweet card. What a thoughtful dude. The whole family went to lunch at Seco's, then we got ready for the Parent Commitment service at the church. Carter wore the blue and white Feldman Brothers outfit that BeBe gave him, and some white shoes I bought that were a bit big. So handsome!
They sang a Sara Groves song I absolutely love that is in the lullabye folder on my ipod (I'll post the lyrics at the end). Just reading the lyrics gets me a little misty-eyed!Then each family walked across the stage and the baby was introduced. His spiritual name was read (apparently "Carter" means "A Peaceful Guide". His verse was "Thou wilt keep in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee. " Isaiah 26:3. The the dads knealt while everyone prayed for the families. All the babies, including Carter, were quite well behaved!
We were exhausted by the time we got home, and I took off Carter's spit-up soaked outfit, and fed the little naked guy (except the diaper of course!) since I thought he would get a bath (it never happened). He fell asleep in a fluffy blanket and looked like a perfect angel snuggled up to me. It was just the perfect ending to Mother's day. I can't imagine loving Carter more than I already do, yet I love him more each day.

You cannot lose my love - Sara Groves:

You will lose your baby teeth.
At times, you'll lose your faith in me.
You will lose a lot of things,
But you cannot lose my love.
You may lose your appetite,
Your guiding sense of wrong and right.
You may lose your will to fight,
But you cannot lose my love.
You will lose your confidence.
In times of trial, your common sense.
You may lose your innocence,
But you cannot lose my love.
Many things can be misplaced;
Your very memories be erased.
No matter what the time or space,
You cannot lose my love.
You cannot lose,
You cannot lose,
You cannot lose my love.

Tummy time!

15 weeks 5 days

Rough night last night. Carter has learned to roll on his tummy, but when he gets there, he remembers he doesn't like it and starts crying! Steve had to keep flipping him over all night! Otherwise, Carter had a nice day, and is currently sleeping in his crib. As usual, Steve and I will place our bets as to what time he will wake up next!

More Feet!

Carter Loves Feet!

15 weeks 4 days

Carter had a nice weekend hanging out with his folks. He made his second trip to the zoo, even if he didn't know where he was. We bought a membership, so we got to go to the zoo a little early, before it was open to the general public. We met up with a friend and her daughter, so I guess Carter had his first official playdate! He was in a great mood on Sunday, and wanted to play all day. The night didn't go so well, as we are trying to encourage him to sleep in his crib, not his bouncy chair. He is really trying hard to turn over onto his belly, but only makes it to his side.
This morning, he looked quite handsome in his hunting camo outfit from his cousins! Even I can tell he's getting big!

15 weeks

Happy 15 weeks to Carter! Carter is doing great, and I can tell he is getting big (especially his big baby feet)! Last night he slept through the night (10:30 to 5:30) for the third time! He is now able to keep himself occupied in the mornings while we get ready for work. He likes to laugh at his mobile, and likes activate the music on the baby-activated feature on his bouncy chair. He is "talking" more, and even gave a a few squeals of delight the other day. He still loves to put those toes in his mouth! He also loves to cuddle with "Bear" - a little bear/rattle/blanket toy.
Looks like the teething things was a false alarm as he hasn't really had any fussy issues since. Maybe he was just overwhelmed from the trip to Bridge City?
I am looking forward to the weekend so we can spend some time with the Dude!
