Carter made his first trip to Bridge City this weekend. He pretty much slept the whole way there and back. Carter-man does not travel light! He got to see Aunt Jean and Cousins Kim, Zane, Kane and Madelyn. He enjoyed being outside and studying his surroundings. He also enjoyed showing off how he can grab both his feet, and even put his feet in his mouth!
He was a little on the fussy side, which came out in full force this evening. It appears he is TEETHING a few months too early. He has all the classic symptoms, and there appears to be a couple of teeth breaking through his upper gums. He was in some serious distress until Steve got back from the store with some orajel swabs. Little guy can't even fit the teething rings in his mouth. I had to wrap a cold washcloth around my finger for him to chew on it. Poor Carter, once he gets through one thing, something else starts up! Hopefully, he will get past this soon. I wish I could stay home with him while he goes through this. Maybe I'll try to bug out early tomorrow...

14 weeks
Wow - 14 weeks today! Yesterday was Carter's first stroll around Hermann Park, followed by his first trip to the grocery store. Prince Carter decided today that he doesn't want formula mixed from powder, just the premixed stuff, thank you! He really stressed out his sitter by not eating.
One of the residents gave us an extra Bumbo chair today. He looks like such a big boy sitting in it, although the head slumps a bit still. He'll get there!

Yay! Another night of 10 to 5! I hope he keeps this up.
He is just melting our hearts as he get cuter and cuter. He likes to grab and hold his feet, and he's learned to turn on the music on his bouncy seat by hitting the bird or the monkey toy.
It's a little disturbing about the chemicals in the bottles, as Carter uses those bottles. Apparently, Babies R Us will be taking the bottles with BPA off the shelf by the end of the year. We may have to buy some new bottles soon!

Prince Carter had a fun weekend. He did a little better this time at Picture People. He was a little wary, but he gave a few more smiles this time. The had a cutest baby contest this weekend - I'm not sure why thy didn't just call him the winner when he showed up :) We ate lunch with a friend who was also taking pictures of her little girl, and both babies were angels at the restaurant!
Carter went to his first softball game, then we went to Katy for Cousin Laruen's Birthday Crawfish Boil. Carter did well the whole time, and slept quietly in his swing while his parents ate! It was the first time Carter was with all his Hightower cousins - Lauren, Jillian, and Fox.
Today Carter must be a little tired from the busy weekend, as he is a little fussy today. He only woke up once last night, and the night before we had a "dream night" - 10 pm to 5 am. We are getting there. Carter has been grabbing his feet, and kicks his legs furiously. Yesterday, he held his bottle with both hands, so I let him hold it himself for a few seconds. He is starting to enjoy watching his mobile more as well.

Carter celebrated his 3 month birthday yesterday. We "celebrated" by driving down to Pearland to get him an outfit for his pictures at Picture People on Saturday. It is nice that he is a content baby now, and we can take him places without too much drama. His new sleep pattern is to go to bed around 8 pm and sleep almost 6 hours before he gets hungry again. It's a little tough that when we get home each day, we don't have much time with him until it's time to go to bed. I am going to try to get up a little earlier so we have time for "playtime" before leaving for work.
It is becoming more and more of a joy to be around him, and sometimes I just find myself just staring at him, mesmerized at how amazing he is!

Steve was already home with Carter when I called from work to say I was leaving the office. Steve put the phone up to Carter and he "talked" to me. So cute!
Last night he slept 4 hours straight. He is taking long, evening naps around 7pm. Tonight, he was sleeping in the living room when we were done cooking dinner, so we took some trays and ate in his nursery so as not to disturb him. Carter is king here!

Precious Carter had a busy weekend. He hung out with his Dad on Saturday while his mom was at a conference. That afternoon, he went with his Dad and his Aunt Ginger's family to Conroe for Steve's grandparents 67th wedding anniversary celebration. It went smoothly, except somone (won't name names!) forgot Carter's bottle, and had to make a stop to Kroger in Conroe to buy a bottle and some formula. Carter got fed on time and it all worked out.
On Sunday, we went the Houston Garden Center for a picnic and some outside time. Carter slept most of the time. We walked to the zoo from there, and strolled around for an hour or so. Again, Carter slept most of the time as he enjoys the bumpiness of the stroller ride. We bought a season pass since Steve got a discount and we live so close, so I expect many more zoo trips this year!
Tonight, Carter stayed in the nursery for both Bible Study and the Worship Service (about three hours) and was just a sweetie. He's happy to be held, doesn't matter who. I know I am biased, but he is just getting sweeter, and I am continuing to fall deeper in love with him :)
Well, tonight Carter had his bath and bottle on time, and has been put down to sleep, so we'll cross our fingers we'll have a good night!

Carter had a fun weekend getting spolied by BeBe and PopPop. Steve and I drove down to Galveston for a few hours, and it's the farthest we have been separated from Carter to date. BeBe and PopPop gave Carter a bath, but forget to take his socks off! At one point this weekend, Carter and Bebe apparently got into a 10 minute "shouting match", talking back and forth to each other.
Carter's trying very hard to learn to suck his thumb, often trying to put his whole fist in his mouth and making growling noises like a puppy! He gets a death grip on his blanket when you put it on his lap, and pulls it up over his eyes. He is now out of the newborn bottles, and is taking up to 5 ounces at a time. Plus, I've had to get out some bigger clother for him.
The bad news is that for the last couple of nights, he regressed back to getting up every 2 to 3 hours, but I hope that doesn't last.
